DISCLAIMER: The BMF Las Vegas Newsletter is an open forum newsletter. It is intended as an information source for all who are members of Business Men's Fellowship. |
he first meeting to "start up" the Fellowship after a long absence, was held at Frontline Ministries, 1708 Luning Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada. The contact telephone number is 702.807.9341 and the contact person at the Ministry House is Pastor Scott Renkes. Of course you may also contact the President, George Bryant at 702.798.4123.
There were about 25 - 30 men and women who attended and this was a good number for the first meeting. Field Representative Phil Harrison and National Director Dario Rabak were also present as it was Phils plan to start up the chapter again. The vision of the Fellowship was explained with the help of a DVD.
Dave Donegan, Vice President of the Amargosa Valley Chapter shared some thougths about thier chapter as well as a part of his testimony. Past President George Bryant sharted the history of the Fellowship here in Las Vegas. For detailed information of the fellowship go to the Newsletter Archives. There are also many good testimonies listed there. Ray of Henderson shared some of his experiences experiences with different chapters.
George Bryant suggested that instead of forming a new chapter it would be more expedient to reactive Chapter 67. At the time he didn't know that Chapter 67 was still considered active and the officers were listed on the current roster. More about this can be found under the date August 15, 2007. Phil Harrison asked for a show of hands of those who were interested in becoming members and ab out 9 men responded.
It is important to note that those who make a commitment as members should do so after prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit as BMF is not a club but an oiutreach ministry to the lost. It is important to understand the success of the Fellowship depends on those committed members as we need a 'core group' who will attend each scheduled meeting as there must be a committment to the establishment where the meetings will be held.
It was decided the nwxt meeting will be held at Frontline Ministries on August 25, 2007 at 2:00 PM. The purpose of this meeting will be to see who wants to become a member and to consider leaders. The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
eorge Bryant called The National Service Director Bill Potter to share about the meeting. This is when I found out Chapter 67 is still active with 2 officers. President George Bryant and Vice President Michael Kelly. Bill and I discussed the fact that we had just held an offical meeting and of Chapter 67.
Bill suggested that we remain with the present officers as the general election is 4 months away and that would be the time to vote on new officers. There is wisdom here as it will take that long to get to know each other and recoginize their gifts for leadership. Since it is important to understand those elected to serve should be by the leading of the Holy Spirit and not by popular opinion.
After Bill and I finished our conversation I contacted Vice President Michael Kelly and told him what was happening. He intends to be present at the August 25th meeting. At this time let's discuss the futuref the Chapter and when and where we will hold our meetings. It is imperative that we find a place that cna accommodate us on a regular basis. It is best when people know that we are meeting on a regular basis and we are in the same palce. It is confusing when we have to keep changing meeting places and times. That is a good reason why we should continue to have regular meetings to see who is committed before we announce general meetings. It is also important the members understand the 'vision' and how we plan to fullfill it. See you at the next meeting.

Thought For The Day:
Don't Be Afraid; You are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10: 31 (NIV)
I couldn't sleep; my stomach was upset; I was hot.
Anxiety about financial problems overwhelmed me. I couldn't get comfortable. My mind was racing. I prayed "Lord where are You? What am I supposed to do?"
God answered me through a sparrow's song. Perched in a tree outside my bedroom window a sparrow started to sing.
Birds don't sing at night; they sing at dawn and dawn was still hours away. I was annoyed. Why was this silly bird singing in the middle of the night, in the heart of darkness?
It took me three days to recognize God's message to me.
In my darkness I can sing. When I was in the depths of despair, God reminded me of the words from a Gospel Song. "His eye is on the Sparrow and I know He watches me".
Suddenly I knew that I was not alone. God watches over me even in the darkest of times.

Thought For The Day:
More than nineteen hundred years ago there was a Man born contrary to the laws of life. This Man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity. He did not travel extensively. Only once did He cross the boundary of the country in which He lived; that was during His exile in childhood.
He possessed neither wealth nor influence. His relatives were inconspicuous and had neither training nor formal education.
In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He puzzled doctors; in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walked upon the waves as pavement, and hushed the sea to sleep.
He healed the multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His service.
He never wrote a book. and yet perhaps all the libraries of the world could not hold the books that have been written about Him.
He never wrote a song, and yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all the songwriters combined.
He never founded a college, but all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.
He never marshaled an army, nor drafted a soldier, nor fired a gun; and yet no leader ever had more volunteers who have, under His orders, made more rebels stack and surrender without firing a shot.
He never practiced psychiatry, and yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near.
Once each week multitudes congregate at worshiping assemblies to pay homage and respect to Him.
The names of the past, proud statesmen of Greece and Rome have come and gone. The names of the past scientists, philosophers, and theologians have come and gone. But the name of this one Man multiplies more and more. Though time has spread nineteen hundred years between the people of this generation and the mockers at His crucifixion, He still lives. His enemies could not destroy Him, and the grave could not hold Him. He stands forth upon the highest pinnacle of heavenly glory, proclaimed of God, acknowledged by angels, adored by saints, and feared by devils, as the risen, personal Christ, our Lord and Savior.
We are either going to be forever with Him or forever without Him.
It was the Incomparable Christ who said:
Come unto Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
(Matthew 11:28)
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
(John 14:6)
